Bethel Township's Newest Firefighter Sworn In

Chelsea Keechle Brooks was sworn in as Bethel Township's newest firefighter at the trustees' meeting Jan. 19. The training room was filled with family, friends, and firefigthers who came out to watch as she received her firefighters pin from Master Sergeant Antonio Ruiz from Tecumseh's Jr. ROTC program and was sworn in by Chief Jacob King, head of the department.

Chelsea started with the fire department as a cadet in the Explorer program when she was still in high school, and has now joined as a firefighter after earning her fire certification. She fought her first house fire with others from the department less than a month after receiving her certification, and several days before this ceremony was held.

Congratulations Chelsea, and thank you for the service you provide Bethel Township's residents.

The Explorer program is now active at the fire station under the aegis of the Boy Scouts of America, and is open to youth interested in learning about the fire service. Interested parties can call the township at 937-849-0303 or 937-849-9499 ext. 1.
